We're excited to announce that "Medea", Spanish import Medea de la
Sierra de Avila has been bred to "Crusader", Ch. Gryphon's Red Knight.
Talk about an exciting summer - this is another very special breeding.
Cru x Medea puppies should carry considerable coat and a variety of colors,
from solid white to solid red, are possible. Personalities should be fun
and outgoing, and pups should be very versatile - they'll make good pets, show
and performance prospects.
Medea is one of those dogs that everyone loves. You can't take her
anywhere without being mobbed by people who want to see her up close and touch
her. She accepts the attention very gracefully, and is an absolute delight
to be around. She lives with two children, 4 and almost 2, and obviously
loves them very much - she seeks them out and offers a little nuzzle from time
to time, just like a second mom. Imagine that disposition in a
female who has actually lived and worked in a hunting kennel! Medea is the
daughter of two very important Spanish show dogs, the well-known Melqart's
Zodiaco (Spanish, German, Portuguese, and International Champion) and Bula de la Costa Seros (German, Spanish, World, International, and European Champion). She was bred in Spain by Arturo Garcia
and imported to the US by Eva Partida. Medea has lovely conformation and
movement, but most striking is simply the way she carries herself - like some
sort of mythical dog creature. Watching her snowy coat turn gold in the
early morning light, while she trots around with her head held high, is just
about as exciting as it gets for this Ibizan enthusiast. Outdoors, Medea
is a huntress - and like her friend and former mentor "Alex", she
enthusiastically keeps her yard free of squirrels. Inside, as you may have
guessed, Medea likes her comforts. She's usually found on the fringes of
the action, curled up in a chair or sometimes snuggling in a bed if she can get
away with it. She earned her counter-surfing championship with flying colors.
Crusader is another charismatic, fun dog. He made all sorts of friends
when he traveled to (and cleaned up at) the Specialty in California last year,
and has only been defeated once or twice in his (admittedly short, but quite
successful) career as a young special. He's so correct and elegant that
it's almost impossible to take a bad photo of him and we've taken a lot of
photos Crusader. "Cru" is owned by the Treasure Quest Syndicate, a group
of Ibizan Fanciers who believe in setting an example of communication,
mentoring, and excellent sportsmanship, that will "raise the bar".
He was bred by premier wire breeder Susan Fegan. Feel free to visit
