We're excited to announce that our "Rum" Foxbridge Ca'Rhumba has been
bred to "Rocky" Ch. Gryphon's Arrivaderci Roma. Puppies due
mid-June.
Both Rocky and Rum carry both smooth and wire coat characteristics. We
expect a variety of coat types, from smooth to possibly heavy wire.
In addition to physical beauty, both parents contribute high intelligence and
athletic ability. This is a litter that we expect to excel in the
conformation ring, the coursing field, and agility.
Rum will finish her championship after her puppies are born. Mom has
given up her traveling job and we should be able to pick up those last singles
without much fuss. Highly respected judge Jon Cole gave Rum a major the
first time she walked into a show ring, and she followed that with a nice 5-pt
major under another well respected judge, Toddy Clark. We love Rum
first and foremost for her sweetness - this lovely girl has never "raised her
voice" to human or dog - but she's poetry in motion, sound, and typey as
well - and what an athlete!
She's shown below winning her first major from the puppy class.
If you haven't seen many Ibizans, Rocky may be the dog that sparked your
interest in the breed. He was the Ibizan in the movie "Best in Show" and
the sire of multiple champions and performance dogs. Our very special
"Crusader", 2006 US National Specialty Winners Dog, Best of Winners, Best in
Sweepstakes, and Best Puppy is a Rocky grandson, as is "Rhett", who won a Grand
Slam - from puppy class to Best of Breed at the Canadian National Specialty the
year before - his first time in the ring. There hasn't been a Rocky
litter for some years, and ours is possible only through the miracle of science.
Thank you Sue Fegan, for your foresight! Rocky brings a lot of Spanish
blood and Spanish good looks to this breeding; his elegant, refined
masculinity, deep red color, and beautiful carriage are among his appeals, but
even more important are the "go for it" attitude and charisma that he has passed
on to his offspring. They "own" the ring!
Warning: The Rocky x Rum litter will not be couch
potatoes! These puppies will be alert, active, high-energy individuals and
will only be placed in homes where we believe they'll receive sufficient
